The film was released on October 23, 2008 in Australia, and October 24 in the United States, Canada, and United Kingdom.[3] Saw V was directed by David Hackl, unlike the previous three installments which were directed by Darren Lynn Bousman.[4] Hackl was the production designer of Saws II, III and IV, and second-unit director for Saw III and Saw IV.
